Bad Kreuznach's annual Jahrmarkt fair

This huge event always takes place on the third weekend in August and attracts around 300,000 people to the Pfingstwiese event ground.

Bad Kreuznach’s Jahrmarkt

The Jahrmarkt has been held here since 1810, making it older than Munich’s Oktoberfest. It is also the biggest folk festival between Mainz, Trier and Mannheim. Around 200 spectacular fairground rides from the chair-o-plane and big wheel to the roller coaster provide plenty of thrills. And fairground booths are always coming up with new ideas. The Dippemarkt features rows of booths selling handmade ceramics, kitchen utensils etc., and is where many a special bargain is to be had. Above all, though, the Jahrmarkt is a festival of conviviality – you bump into friends wherever you go, in the Nahe wine tent, in one of the party tents or at the Kölsch beer stand.
