Oranienpark – flora and fauna in the middle of town

Oranienpark is situated in the middle of the spa quarter and is actually a symmetrical baroque garden. Rose beds and a pond are encircled by a pergola with roses and wisteria.

The plant life changes with the seasons. The blaze of colours in spring and summer are replaced in autumn by the fruits of the numerous bushes and in winter by the exquisite silver-grey ones - such as santolina or sage. And 120 trees, some of them very old, create shady and inviting rest areas.

A very attractive miniature golf course is integrated in the grounds. And the area around the historic water tower is used by fans of boules. The restaurant in Oranienpark boasts beautiful views from its winter garden and is an ideal place to stop in for a bite to eat and drink. Oranienpark was home to the town’s most beautiful hotel until 1930. There was a convent here in the Middle Ages. Later, Princess Maria von Oranien - wife of the count palatine of Zweibrücken - lived in the park.
