Individual tours on over 100 km of bike trails
The Nahe region around Bad Kreuznach is an eldorado for touring cyclists who appreciate the varied natural landscape.
Besides an extensive network of well-mapped regional bike trails, one highly recommended route is the Naheradweg route from Bingen on the Rhine to Bostalsee lake in Saarland. The section from Bingen via Bad Kreuznach to Bad Sobernheim - taking you along the Nahe river - has relatively few ascents and the surface condition is excellent. It is truly one of Germany's most stunning cycle routes. Bad Kreuznach is also an ideal starting point for shorter trips of up to 45 km.

The Naheradweg bike trail
This route stretches 128 km along the Nahe river from Bingen through Bad Kreuznach, Bad Münster am Stein-Ebernburg, Bad Sobernheim, Idar-Oberstein and Birkenfeld to Nohfelden – or vice versa. A regional train line runs along the entire route, so cyclists are free to choose where they start and finish.
Sections: Bingen – Bad Sobernheim: 47 km, Bad Sobernheim – Idar-Oberstein: 34 km, Idar-Oberstein to the end: 47 km.
The route from Bingen to Bad Kreuznach runs through a stunning floodplain landscape. Once in Bad Kreuznach, the path leads through the historical and spa quarters and on to a wildly romantic rugged landscape. The route then continues to Bad Sobernheim via the vineyards of Niederhausen. Cyclists of all abilities will have no trouble as far as Idar-Oberstein, but from then on the route becomes more demanding.

Ellerbachtal–Gräfenbachtal: valley to valley along the Kleinbahn bike trail
A large part of this bike trail runs along the disused track of a narrow-gauge railway. You start off in Bad Kreuznach’s historical quarter and cycle along the Ellerbach and Gräfenbach streams via Rüdesheim and Burgsponheim to Bockenau. That’s the easy part! Afterwards, a long and demanding ascent leads to Allenfeld. The reward for all this effort is a fast downhill ride past Wallhausen - Dalberg - Gutenberg and back to Bad Kreuznach.
Route: Bad Kreuznach – Rüdesheim – Weinsheim – Burgsponheim – Bockenau – Allenfeld – Argenschwang – Wallhausen – Dalberg – Gutenberg – Bad Kreuznach
Distance: 34 km
Elevation: 330 hm
Notes: An easy, very attractive tour with a challenging climb after Bockenau. This former narrow-gauge railway line (Kleinbahn) runs through gently rolling hill country.

Alsenz bike trail
From Bad Münster am Stein, you cycle upstream along the little river Alsenz into the North Palatine Uplands to Winningen, Alsenz and Rockenhausen. You can enjoy 50 kilometres of changing scenery of forest, vineyard and meadow landscapes on this fairly easy tour. The well-developed Alsenz railway allows you a comfortable return journey with bicycle transport. In Bad Münster am Stein, the Alsenzradweg route links up with the Naheradweg route.
Appelbach bike trail
From Bad Kreuznach, you can cycle via the Rhinehessen neighbourhoods of Planig and Bosenheim to Pfaffen-Schwabenheim and on to Wöllstein. Follow the Appelbach river through the beautiful castle village of Neu-Bamberg to Münsterappel and from there via Kalkofen to Alsenz. A regional train runs from here along the river Alsenz back to Bad Kreuznach (with bicycle transport).
Ride on cycle paths and roads with little traffic through a peaceful river valley.
Distance: 30 km
Notes: slight inclines
