Fischerstechen water jousting spectacle

The Fischerstechen water jousting spectacle is one of the most original folk festivals in the Nahe region, and it is always held on the second weekend in September.

Rowing teams in shallow boats bring their jouster into the best position to push their opponent into the water. Jousting matches take place from Friday to Sunday (final rounds from 2pm). A lively folk festival takes place on the banks of the Roseninsel.

The fishermen’s guild

For almost 30 years, the Fischerstechen water jousting spectacle has been a reminder of the Nahe fishermen’s tradition. For hundreds of years, they provided the population with fresh fish, which they caught in the Nahe river from their shallow boats.
