Celebrating in Bad Kreuznach
The people of Bad Kreuznach know how to celebrate. Pleasant company, a good atmosphere, lots of fun and one or two glasses of wine from the Nahe region will let you forget every day life for a few pleasant hours.
The town’s calendar of events list a number of small and large festivals year for year. The undisputed highlight is the funfair, the biggest fair between the rivers Rhine, Mosel, Nahe and Saar. Around 500.000 visitors flock to the 63.000 m² large fairground for five days on the 3rd weekend in August, to meet up with friends and acquaintances, try regional and international food, enjoy the various fairground rides, quite simply to have fun.
A typical town festival is the fisherman’s fair in September on Rose island with the tournament “Fischerstechen”, whereby participants try with the help of lances to knock their opponents into the water while standing in small boats, similar to a knights’ tournament on horseback. For 20 years now locals and guests have celebrated this festival with the 3 W’s: Wiese (fairground on Rose island), Wasser (water) and Wein (wine) – sport, fun and good food all inclusive. The fair is a reminder of the long fishing tradition on the river Nahe.
The festivals in the historical part of the town deserve a special mention. Children and adults alike can enjoy a variety of festivals situated around the egg market and salt market, between beautifully renovated half-timbered houses and along narrow streets and alleys: the Easter market, egg market festival, wine festival and Nicholas festival.
Consumer trade fairs such as the car fair with local exhibitors of various trades or the Naheland fair complete the picture.
